I think everyone has experienced the ugly cry at some point in their lives. After a break up, when something tragic happens, in times of change or transition, when something deeply meaningful comes to an end. It's heartbreaking, it's uncontrollable, and it's just generally ugly.
I had one of my all time ugly cries in a very public place; waiting in line at the Seattle airport. I stood there, surrounded by hundreds of people, ugly crying my eyes out. A husband and wife standing in front of me whispered under their breath... "should we help her?”… “what do you think happened?" My brain started racing after hearing this. Did I need help? What exactly had happened?
I was leaving a place that was so special to me, and people who I loved. It was heart-hurt to the max. As I prepared to board a plane home to the east coast, a hard reality struck... I was boarding a plane that was taking me away from my home and away from my family, my Seattle family. It was a sad, weird, shaky gut check, but I had to smile for a second once the tears settled. I had to smile because this chance I took on Seattle, Oiselle, and new opportunities, was a chance I took that has forever changed me. It's a chapter in my storybook of life that has allowed me to turn the page to the next chapter.
Enter the silver lining. The exciting part. The next chapter. SPOILER ALERT! There is a next chapter! There is always a next chapter...
This one is BIG. This one is so big, it's hard to believe that it's even my real life. First, it’s back to the east coast for a bit AND THEN... I'm off to Belgrade, Serbia and from there on to other magical places around the world! I’ll be leading the marketing efforts for a company called We Roam. If you're not familiar with them, they're a rockstar, forward thinking, professional remote work travel program. We Roam selects 35-40 remote working professionals and brings them on an adventure of a lifetime… a different country each month. Check out the itineraries here. See the world, meet interesting people, share the story. It's the dreamiest of dream jobs, and I am beyond excited to get started!
But none of this would have been possible without the Seattle chapter. Without the brilliant women of Oiselle who taught me how to live, love, build community, and share great stories. Or the friends who became family and made me believe in flying far and taking risks. I’ll be back to visit you, Seattle. Because I love you and because this isn’t our final song, we’ve got more dancing to do.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates and adventures coming up. And follow along with We Roam as we embark on a wild ride around the world.
Big love to all!
